We start with natural stone from the farms and fields of New England. Thin Veneer allows natural stone to be used in applications that do not incorporate a concrete footing to support the weight of traditional full thickness masonry stone. Thin veneer is often chosen to renovate an existing building, face a fireplace, or veneer concrete block.
Thin veneer stone is available in both "flats" and "corners" so that the finished product looks completely realistic -- just as if full thickeness (3-6 inch Building Veneer) had been used -- but with lower transportation costs and site construction expenses. (Imagine carrying 80% less weight up your staging!)
This thin fieldstone veneer cladding (facing) can be applied over wall surfacing like durarock or wood siding. The bonding agent, installed by a qualified mason, supports the weight of the stone, which is less than 14 lbs per square foot. Our thin veneer stone is 1.25-1.75 inch thick, and this allows your mason to recess the mortar joints to match with traditional masonry construction. See our installation instructions for more details.
We saw our Thin Veneer from "regular" face sized building veneer. Three face shapes are weathered: Mosaic, Square and Rectangular, and Round, and our two stacked stones feature the inside grain of the stone: Ledgestone and Ashlar.
Thin veneer out of natural stone is no longer cost prohibitive. In fact, you will be surprised to learn that our pricing is on par with man-made artificial stone. Our customers and business partners say we have even more to offer.
About the same price per square foot as manufactured stone.
Dramatically lower transportation costs than full thickness stone (Building Veneer).
Cornerstones create the appearance of full thickness stone.
Lower cost for field trimming and dressing.
Installs the same way as man-made artificial manufactured stone.
Five unique face options to recreate "your" particular look.
Weathered colors and/or inside grain colors
Suitable for facing concrete block in retention wall construction.
1.25-175 inch thickness allows for recessed joints.
Possibly a do-it-yourself project.
Higher cost per square foot than building veneer, but still on par with artificial stone.
Requires experienced installer for first class results.
Like our Thin Veneer, building veneer starts as natural stone from the farms and fields of New England. While some of our pieces of building veneer are hand sorted, other pieces must be snapped to deliver a consistent depth. Building veneer is considered 100% face stone because it was hand inspected to make sure the best face is forward. With our large face sizes, we often need to snap the back of the stone with a guilotine, making a one man stone feature a much large face than what would otherwise be workable. While our building veneer lines sometimes look more expensive than wallstone grade stone on a per ton price, it is actually an overall better value for several reasons.
If you want to make a certain dish, you need to start with the right ingredients. We offer five shapes. Within each shape category, we furthur clasify out the size of the face, either small, regular, or large.
Spending more per ton is a savings when there is less wasted material. Additionally, pre-processing stone before it lands at the job site will prevent a mason from wasting time processing stone with inefficient tools on site, and allows us to use highly efficient machinery and systems in our shop, saving the project owner money in the end.
We list both the tonnage and the square foot coverage. This helps avoid excess transportation costs.

Suitable for facing concrete block in retention wall construction.
More depth to recess joints - achieve a dry look if desired.
Higher transportation costs than thin veneer.
Not a do-it-yourself project.
Wallstone "faces" are the side of the stone.
Wallstone face sortings apply to the face height, but it has widely varying depths (often from 6-18 inches).
Wallstone (particularly flat wallstone) is suitable for dry stack construction.
Building veneer is more cost effective in retaining walls.
Wallstone is equally cost effective to building veneer for two sided wall construction.
Veneer has more face options than wallstone, allowing more custom tailoring of the finished look.
